Want a reminder every week?

This puts a repeating reminder in your phone's calendar for Friday at 8am, so you never have to remember on your own. You only need to do it once.

If your phone does nothing when you tap that, no problem — open your Clock app, add an alarm for Friday 8am, set it to repeat weekly and name it Site check. That works on every phone.

Worth being straight with you: this keeps honest people from fiddling, which is the real risk here. It is not a password — anyone who knows how to view a web page's source could read the code. Nothing private is stored in the page, so there is nothing to steal.

Putting this page online

It lives on Cloudflare Pages, free. To publish a new version:

  1. Cloudflare dashboard → Workers & Pages → open the cypscot-site-check project.
  2. Create a new deployment, set to production.
  3. Drag the site folder from C:\Claude Projects\Cypscot Site Check into the frame, and deploy.

The file inside that folder must stay named index.html, and the project must keep its name — the project name is the web address, and every home screen icon points at it.

Nothing is stored on the web — the page just writes a WhatsApp message. There is no database, no monthly fee and nothing that can expire.

Keeping a history

Every report can also write itself into a Google Sheet you own — a Reports tab with one row per check, and a Maintenance tab with one row per problem, ready for you to mark Open or Resolved. WhatsApp carries on exactly as it does now; this happens quietly in the background.

  1. Make a new Google Sheet and name it Cypscot Site Checks.
  2. In that sheet: Extensions → Apps Script.
  3. Delete whatever is in the editor, paste in the script I sent you, and press the save icon.
  4. Deploy → New deployment. Click the gear beside "Select type" and choose Web app.
  5. Set Execute as to Me and Who has access to Anyone. This is the step that lets the caretakers write to it without a Google login.
  6. Press Deploy, allow the permissions it asks for, and copy the Web app URL.
  7. Send me that address and I'll bake it into the file, same as your number.

Google will warn you that the app "isn't verified" during step 6. That is because you wrote it yourself and it is not published publicly — click Advanced, then Go to the project. Anyone holding that web address could add rows to your sheet, so treat it like the setup code and keep it out of the group chat.

Photos stay in WhatsApp. The sheet records that problems were reported and when; the pictures live in the chat alongside.

Putting it on the caretakers' phones

Best done once, with each caretaker, so they never have to hunt for the link in WhatsApp again. Open the link on their phone, then:

  1. Android: Chrome menu (⋮) → Add to Home screen.
  2. iPhone: Safari share button → Add to Home Screen.

A green tick icon called Site Check lands on their home screen and opens like an app. That is what you want them tapping every week.

Changing the lists or the number

The caretaker names, the duty lists and the number reports go to are all set inside the file. Send me the changes and I'll give you a fresh copy to upload to Cloudflare — it replaces the old one, the address stays the same, and every saved home screen icon follows along.
